Verbascum
Mullein is known medicinal plant. For therapeutic purposes is exclusively used mullein flower or leaves. It has been used traditionally as a remedy for the respiratory tract, including bronchitis. It works as an expectorant, meaning it helps expel mucus.

Tea must be carefully strained, because the flowers are covered with fine hairs that irritates the mucous membranes. Due to the already mentioned anti-inflammatory effects Mullein is also used externally as a poultice for abrasions, rheumatic pain, varicose ulcers or hemorrhoids.
CONSTITUENTS
Mullein contains mainly saponins and mucilage a small amount of oil, sugars, tannins and flavonoids.
